DAVID GAFFNEY

David “Dave” Alan Gaffney took his final journey to a better place on Sept. 1. He was 59. He battled a long illness with courage and dignity, and was a remarkable man.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, at the home of Julian and Linda Farlow, 16456 Hilaire Road, Rough & Ready.

Dave was born on Jan. 12, 1949, in San Bernardino, and lived his life in Southern California, Washington State, Lake Tahoe and the place he loved most, Grass Valley.



He served bravely and honorably with the 101st Airborne of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he graduated from the University of California, Irvine, attended Loyola Law School, and received an MBA from the University of Nevada at Reno. He was an accomplished general contractor for 27 years.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Judy Gaffney; mother, Joanne; brother, Matt; niece, Amy; nephew, Michael; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and many loving friends who will miss him and his unique ability to make everyone laugh.




He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

In lieu of flowers, take the opportunity to tell someone you love them, or donations may be made to the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation Cancer Center. Donation envelopes will be available at the celebration of life.

Arrangement are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.
