Crystal Johnson

Crystal Allegria Johnson died July 5 Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley.

Friends are welcome for visitation from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 10, at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley, and for a graveside service at 10 a.m., Friday, July 11, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Similia, Colo., to Albert Elias and Mabel (Lemley) Hofer. She was a 50-year resident of Nevada County. She married Claude Raymond Johnson on July 14, 1935, in an airplane and renewed their vows 42 years later in a 747 jetliner.



Mrs. Johnson worked alongside her husband, who owned and operated Ray’s Radiator in Grass Valley for several years. She played the organ for The First Baptist Church and co-piloted biplanes with her husband.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons Kirk and Craig Johnson of Grass Valley; grandchildren Jay Henslee of Sacramento, Kelly, Kevin, Raymond, Brian and Kim Johnson, all of Grass Valley; and great-grandchildren Jayden, Connor, Logan, Ella and Caydence.




She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Claude Raymond Johnson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
