Suspects sought in armed robbery at Nevada City motel

Nevada City Police officers are hunting for two men who reportedly robbed guests at a Nevada City motel before fleeing in the victims’ rental vehicle early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the motel on Railroad Avenue after two men called 911 to report they had been robbed at just before 2:30 a.m.

The victims told officers a man who identified himself as “Mike” knocked on their motel room door, and when they opened it, two men dressed in black, wearing black masks, forced their way inside. One had a Taser and one has a 12-gauge shotgun, said Sgt. Chad Ellis.

The two robbers made the victims go into the bathroom and ransacked the room, stealing a cell phone, a computer notebook, and the keys to their rental car, Ellis said. They reportedly left in the car, described as a red Dodge Avenger.

The victims claimed they had no knowledge of the suspects, Ellis said.

One of the victims was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Solano County, as well as on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after reportedly being found with a small amount of narcotics.

The armed robbery remains under investigation, Ellis said.
