Report of disturbance, gunshots leads to arrest on vehicle theft charge

Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a call of a disturbance and possible gunshots ended up arresting one man on vehicle theft charges Monday morning.

Deputies arrived at the scene of the dispute, which occurred on Table Meadow Road at about 7 a.m., to find two vehicles fleeing the scene, said Lt. Steve Tripp.

Both vehicles were subsequently detained, Tripp said.

According to the victims, several days previously Russell Teffeteller had taken his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle without permission.

On Monday morning, Teffeteller reportedly confronted her new boyfriend, and then began beating his vehicle with a hammer before both victims left the scene.

Teffeteller, 33, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and was being held in county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
