Police blotter: Several sick skunk reports

Grass Valley Police Department

Friday

8:05 a.m. — A caller reported a man inside of a business on the 100 block of Neal Street; the caller said the man was making employees uncomfortable. The man left the business while the caller was on the phone with authorities.



10:00 a.m. — The owner of a business on the 900 block of Sutton Way reported several people loitering in front of her store.

10:02 a.m. — A caller on the 600 block of Whiting Street reported a suspicious man riding a bicycle nearby; officers were unable to locate the man.




11:08 a.m. — A resident on the 400 block of Mill Street called to report a stolen bicycle.

11:32 a.m. — A woman called to report a skunk on her property on the 300 block of North Church Street; she told authorities she thought the skunk might be rabid because it kept walking in a circle and falling down.

12:55 p.m. — A caller on the 300 block of Finnie Street reported a neighbor was leaving bags of trash in the roadway. Authorities contacted the neighbor, who said he would clean up the trash and obtain trash cans.

2:24 p.m. — A caller told authorities that someone had just fired a gun near Minnie Street in Condon Park before driving off; two minutes later, another caller reported a man in a blue van had fired a black semi-automatic gun into the air near the entrance to Condon park before driving off. Authorities took a report.

3:29 p.m. ­— A person walked into police headquarters on the 100 block of South Auburn Street to report that a newly-issued commercial driver’s license had been lost in the mail. Officers advised the resident to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles to re-issue the license.

4:54 p.m. ­— A caller told authorities a man had been stealing power from his business on the 100 block of Bank Street.

11:29 p.m. ­— A caller on the 400 block of Mill Street reported a loud party nearby.

Saturday

12:45 a.m. ­— A caller from a hospital on the 100 block of Glasson Way reported a patient who had been treated but was refusing to leave the hospital. The patient was escorted off the property by authorities but returned several hours later. Authorities arrested the patient for trespassing.

1:58 p.m. ­— A caller reported a shoplifter inside a business on the 2000 block of Nevada City Highway; authorities were unable to locate the suspect.

2:58 p.m. — A caller reported upstairs neighbors on the 800 block of East Main Street playing music loudly.

4:14 p.m. — A caller on the 400 block of Brighton Street called to report her roommate for threatening to destroy her property; authorities mediated the dispute.

4:19 p.m. — A caller on the 700 block of Sutton Way reported a suspicious man sitting on a bench nearby. Authorities located the man, who moved along.

5:27 p.m. ­— A caller reported a young boy hitchhiking close to the Highway 49 on ramp near Bennett Street; the boy was gone when authorities arrived.

6:13 p.m. — A caller reported drug activity taking place at a residence on the 600 block of Whiting Street. One person was arrested on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and bringing drug paraphernalia into jail.

8:58 p.m. — A caller reported someone speeding near Packard Drive and Brighton Street; the caller told authorities the driver shouted “I smoke weed every day.”

10:39 p.m. — A caller reported hearing a woman screaming for someone to leave her alone on Plaza Drive.

Friday

9:00 a.m. — A caller reported a suspicious truck in the roadway with the engine running and a door open near Anchor and Little Hill lanes. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

9:31 a.m. — A caller reported a car without a placard in a handicapped spot in a school parking lot on the 10000 block of Rough and Ready Highway. The vehicle was gone when authorities arrived.

10:11 a.m. — A caller reported a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of Patricia Way and Anona Court; the caller said the vehicle had been there for three days. However, authorities found nothing unusual when they checked out the vehicle.

10:55 a.m. — Authorities found a person passed out behind the wheel of their car on the 29000 block of Highway 49. The driver was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

4:12 p.m. — A resident on the 10000 block of Kenwood Drive requested extra patrol after telling officers he found some mail belonging to him and his neighbor near their mailboxes; he said the mail had been opened.

5:22 p.m. — A caller on the 13900 block of Hidden Valley Road reported a skunk suffering from distemper in a nearby ditch.

5:48 p.m. — A caller on the 14000 block of Bristle Court reported giving her social security number to someone on the phone; she said the person told her she had won a car and money.

8:22 p.m. — A caller reported a moped in the bushes near the 23000 block of Broadmoor Court; the caller told officers the vehicle had been there for several weeks.

9:48 p.m. — A caller reported seeing rockets in the air near Buckeye and Greenhorn roads.

10:04 p.m. — A man reported his car had been stolen from the 400 block of Broad Street.

10:28 p.m. — A caller reported a vehicle had gotten stuck trying to drive onto a golf course near Ironwood Court and Darkhorse Circle. The caller said the driver was walking around the neighborhood and appeared disoriented. The driver was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Saturday

1:04 a.m. — A caller reported a loud party near Ball Road and Stinson Drive.

7:37 a.m. — A caller reported a sick skunk wandering around near the 18300 block of Gray Oak Drive. Officers gave advice.

9:03 a.m. — A caller reported mailboxes near Woodlake Road and McCourtney roads had been broken into; checks were stolen. Officers took a report.

1:55 p.m. — A caller reported a person camping inside a car at an RV park on the 11200 block of McCourtney Road; the caller said the camper had not paid. Officers contacted the camper, who agreed to move.

2:14 p.m. — A resident on the 15000 block of Sure Bet Road reported receiving two calls that appeared to be a scam.

2:20 p.m. — Someone reported a man asleep at a picnic table near on the 100 block of State Street; the caller said the man had woken up and started threatening people in a nearby parking lot.

6:08 p.m. — A caller reported a man standing at the intersection of State Street and Noel Lane throwing rocks at cars. Authorities were unable to locate the man.

Sunday

2:44 a.m. — A caller reported hearing two gunshots near the 10000 block of Wolf Drive.
