Penn Valley man arrested on charges of child abuse

On Tuesday afternoon, 73 year-old James Sims, of Penn Valley, was arrested for continuous sexual abuse of child under the age of 14, according to a release.

The investigation was initiated by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office where the initial report was disclosed. A joint investigation took place for several weeks between both Washoe and Nevada County Sheriff’s Offices.



Detectives confirmed Sims had been sexually abusing a child for two years at a residence in the state of Nevada and at Sims’ residence in Penn Valley.

Sims was booked into the Nevada County Jail on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child, lewd acts with a child under 14 years of age and penetration with a foreign object.
