Nevada County Police Blotter: Political texts lead to welfare check

Grass Valley Police Department

Tuesday

7:11 a.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Sutton Way reported several transients sleeping behind dumpsters. Officers were unable to located anyone.

8:19 a.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Bennett Street reported his vehicle was stolen overnight.

9:35 a.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Brighton Street reported a transient man sleeping under a tree near a parking lot. Officers found the man wasn't sleeping, he was looking at trees.

10:21 a.m. — A caller from the 600 block of Sutton Way reported a woman in a women's restroom moaning and groaning and not responding to employees.

2:52 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Glasson Way reported someone calling and harassing and threatening staff. The caller said the person keeps saying he's coming back and that earlier he was on the site pounding on the doors.

Wednesday

1:13 a.m. — A caller from the 100 block of East McKnight Way reported a man sleeping in a vehicle in a parking lot. The caller was advised of 911 usage.

2:22 a.m. — A caller from the 900 block of Sutton Way reported a drunk man in a lobby dropped the phone and a possible disturbance.

5:34 p.m. — A caller near the corner of Walsh Street and Mill Street reported two transients going through the trash at the Lola Montez House. No crime was found to have been committed, they were picking up a shelving unit.

Tuesday

5:38 a.m. — A caller from Carriage Road reported someone possibly hanging out in one of his cottages at the bottom of the hill.

6:44 a.m. — A caller from Peyton Place reported advise regarding an ongoing issue with bears tearing up her turkey pen. The caller has done her own research and nothing seemed to work to keep the bear out.

7:46 a.m. — A caller from Slate Creek Road reported neighbors leaving their trash cans on her driveway. According to the caller, she has a court order that says they can't do that.

8:26 a.m. — A caller from Northview Drive reported a woman showed up on his property saying she lives there and was refusing to leave. The caller said the woman told her she had a snake in her head.

10:21 a.m. — A caller from Buckeye Circle reported a burglary with the suspect still on scene. The caller said the suspect is the mother of her ex boyfriend who doesn't have permission to be in the residence. The caller said the suspect broke the front lock to the residence but didn't know where she was inside the residence. An arrest was made on charges of child cruelty.

11:55 a.m. — A caller from Banner Lava Cap Road reported his wife called the caller saying an unknown man walked through the unlocked front door and straight through the back door. The caller said it appeared nothing was taken. The man then possibly climbed a fence out of the yard and the caller could hear the neighbor's dog barking hysterically.

12:34 p.m. — A caller from Banner Lava Cap Road reported the same man appeared to have also come into the caller's residence and stolen the caller's laptop.

2:30 p.m. — A caller near the corner of Pittsburg Road and Eagle Circle reported a man with pants sagging down talking to himself and in the middle of the road.

3:07 p.m. — A caller near the corner of Idaho Maryland Road and Brunswick Road reported her vehicle and her boyfriend's vehicle tires were slashed. The callers were also trespassing at the time.

7:38 p.m. — A caller near the corner of John Born Road and Turkey Point Circle reported theft of a vehicle. One set of keys was not accounted for, having been left in the front seat.

8:44 p.m. — A person was stopped on Lake Vera Purdon Road. A person was arrested on charges of public intoxication.

11:53 p.m. — A person was stopped on Combie Road. A person was arrested on charges of failure to appear.

Tuesday

10:20 a.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Spring Street reported two men and possibly a woman appeared transient and loitering in a lot. One man was swinging nunchucks around.

11:27 a.m. — A caller from Providence Mine Road reported the old property for Grass Valley Group is turning into a shooting gallery. The caller reported lots of hypos found. Officers found no trash or needles around the building.

1:34 p.m. — A caller from the 900 block of Maidu Avenue reported hitting a parked car and wasn't able to stay and wait for the person to come out.

2:49 p.m. — A caller near the corner of Pittsburg Road and Gold Flat Road reported a man hitting vehicles and yelling at vehicles as they come by. An arrest was made on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance and resisting a public officer.

6:38 p.m. — A caller near the intersection of the Golden Center Freeway and Broad Street reported theft of a vehicle. The caller said there was a hide-a-key on the truck.

8:18 p.m. — A caller from out of town requested a welfare check on his wife who texted him for help. No more information was available and his wife wasn't answering. The caller's wife called saying she was home and fine. She had sent him a text joking about political issues and didn't think he would take it so seriously.
