A Nevada County couple is hoping someone can provide information on an unusual theft from their property.

On May 17, Dawn and Brandon Stauffer discovered that someone had stolen an ore cart, a cross and an American flag while they were at work.

“It was given to my husband from a dear friend who passed away from brain cancer,” Dawn Stauffer said.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff’s Office at 265-1471 or email the Stauffers at bstauffer@teichert.com.

“We live on Highway 49, three minutes from Independence trail about two miles past the Willo (restaurant) going towards North San Juan,” said Dawn Stauffer. “Someone had to see people loading it, it’s a real, full-size ore cart. There has been daily construction on our road, so someone had to see something.”
