Homeowner fends off home invaders

A homeowner off Newtown Road reportedly fended off a home invasion robbery of his marijuana Thursday night.

A man on Moon Valley Road called 911 at about 11:30 p.m. to report a possible home invasion attempt with people kicking his door down, according to dispatch reports.

It was not known how many people were involved, said Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal. The victim reported the suspects fled in a dark truck with a camper shell.

“He did have a large quantity of marijuana in the house,” Royal said.

The homeowner reportedly armed himself with a gun and the would-be robbers fled without taking any marijuana, Royal said.

There was no description of the suspects, but the incident remains under investigation.
