Community members have been asked to be on the alert for a flight of fairies that have been reported stolen from a Nevada County Fair exhibit.

Many children worked tirelessly to create and submit entries to the Fairy Garden exhibit in Evergreen Hall — the exhibit is a longtime mainstay of the Nevada County Fair. According to YubaNet, which first reported on the incident, “Some time between judging on Tuesday and Wednesday morning someone went through Evergreen Hall and took all the little fairies from the exhibits our children submitted in the Fairy Garden competition. I’d like to ask that whoever did this to please return them to the office at the Fairgrounds. Our kids are very disappointed.”

Fair staff reportedly have increased security measures in order to prevent any further theft.

“My message to whoever took them is shame on you, bring them back to their rightful owners,” said fair publicist Wendy Oaks.

Anyone with information on the missing fairies, or fairies in general, is encouraged to contact The Union intern Kael Newton at 530-470-3585.
