DUI suspected in Rough and Ready rollover crash

A Rough and Ready woman reportedly was under the influence when she rolled her vehicle Sunday night and somehow became partially pinned underneath.

Sharon Louise Madison, 62, was driving on Rough and Ready Road west of Rough and Ready Highway at just after 5 p.m. when she ran off the road and hit a mailbox, rolling her vehicle, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Greg Tassone.

She somehow got her leg pinned under the vehicle when it came to rest, although she was still inside, Tassone said.

A witness was able to free her before medical help and CHP officers arrived.

Madison was taken by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center because she was complaining of substantial pain, Tassone said.

She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and then released to the hospital for treatment. Madison was in fair condition as of Monday afternoon, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
