County union endorses Anderson for judge

The union that represents employees at the Nevada County courthouse has endorsed Tom Anderson for Superior Court judge.

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 39 represents more than 1,000 people who work at the courthouse, for Nevada County and for the city of Grass Valley. The local also represents about 400 county residents who work for nearby county and city governments.

“We are confident that Tom Anderson will continue his outstanding efforts on behalf of the residents of Nevada County through fair, scholarly and judicious consideration, compassion and a true commitment to the law,” union representative Kathy Widing said.

Anderson is the county Public Defender, both representing clients in court and managing the Public Defender’s office. He is among six candidates vying for the seat that will be left vacant when Judge Carl F. Bryan II retires at the end of the year.
