Cora McMahan

Graveside services for Cora McMahan will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at New Elm Ridge Cemetery in Grass Valley under the auspices of Pocahonas Lodge, Ceanotha Council No. 9.

Mrs. McMahan died Monday, Nov. 4, in Grass Valley. She was 98.



She was born Nov. 23, 1903, on her father’s ranch in Rowland, Nev., one of nine children. She married Frank McMahan in 1921 in Mountain Home, Idaho.

They ranched in Nevada until her husband’s health failed. They moved to Grass Valley in 1937. She worked in various restaurants in Grass Valley, the last being Bunce’s Cafe.




She is survived by her children Jim of Foresthill, Leo of Sacramento, Allen of St. Louis and Dorothy Smith of Pahrump, Nev.; brother, George Scott of Grass Valley; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1948.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
