Conklin is respected

I have been precinct-walking in support of the campaign to re-elect Bruce Conklin for supervisor for District 3. I have been enjoying helping to register voters, passing out information, and just talking and listening to people in various Grass Valley neighborhoods.

My observations are that Mr. Conklin is very well respected. Conklin, as a nonpartisan candidate, listens and researches issues thoroughly. He has invaluable experience as a former supervisor, and with this experience, he will bring a depth of understanding to concerns and issues facing this county. He will work well with others in finding solutions and compromises.

I am disappointed in what appears to be a concerted campaign against Conklin by the editor of The Union. The use of lead captions regarding the issue of integrity seems to me to be an attempt to manipulate voters. Many voters may read only the captions or headlines and obviously be influenced.

My fear is that I am not getting informed by this paper as much as being manipulated. I object to the use of drama to influence voters. I know that it sells papers. I am ending my subscription. And I am voting for Conklin for his integrity.
