Conklin anecdote

The man called his supervisor regarding a problem he was having with the NID ditch which bordered his property. He talked to his supervisor probably expecting what most of us expect: a bureaucratic answer and a promise to look into it.

But the man was surprised when the supervisor showed up on his property, shovel in hand, and fixed the problem himself. The supervisor’s name: Bruce Conklin. That anecdote, relayed to me by a community member who had known Bruce intimately for many years, sums up what is unique about Bruce.

As someone who is eternally skeptical about government and not easily impressed by elected officials, Bruce breaks the mold and encourages faith in local government. Having known Mr. Conklin since 1989, I can vouch for his honesty, dedication, and knowledge. Ask anyone who has dealt with Bruce personally, or in an official capacity, and I think you will get an unequivocal answer about the man and his character. Mr. Conklin will serve the community well as supervisor.
