Concerts top off Jazz Camp

Jazz Camp 2008, a five-day experience for musicians, includes two concerts for the public. A new event, the kick-off Faculty Concert, is at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The Faculty Concert opens the door to the week ahead providing an experience of the excitement and creativity inherent in the genre of Jazz. A Silent Auction will be held one hour prior to the Faculty Concert, from 6-7 p.m. offering music lessons, spa treatments and gift certificates from The Flour Garden, The Truffle Shop and Coffeetown.

The closing Student Concert Sunday afternoon is at 3 p.m. on July 20 and is always a high energy affair, with all students participating in small combos.

Both concerts take place at Miners Foundry on Spring Street in Nevada City and cost $15 each. Purchase tickets at BriarPatch, online at http://www.sierrajazzsociety.com and at the door. Call Sierra Jazz Society at (530) 273-2393 for more details.
