Concert celebrates Scottish heritage

Singer Isla St. Clair and piper John Spoore will be featured in a “The Songs and Music of Scotland” concert Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Grass Valley.

Performing since she was 10, St. Clair had a solo performance before Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Albert Hall. She was named “Best Female TV Personality” as co-host of BBC’s “The Generation Game” for four years. Spoore, the personal piper to the late Queen Mother Elizabeth, began his piping career in the British Army’s Gordon Highlanders and the 51st Highland Regiment.

Tuesday’s 7:30 p.m. concert is sponsored by the Gold Country Celtic Society.

Admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Advance tickets are at the Nevada City Postal Company and The Book Seller.

The church is at 1866 Ridge Road.
