Nevada County Captures: Fellowship building
It's been a busy month for the Odd Fellows Oustomah Lodge #16 IOOF of Nevada City! Fellowship Building at Grover Hot Springs State Park, 8/13 to 8/16/19 - Nine members and friends of Oustomah shared breakfast. Some went to the hot springs for a soak, some hiked to the waterfall, some did both, in Odd combinations. Three nights of shared meals and campfire circles and generally enjoying each other's company, we all agreed, was good for us.

Consistent with our mission of making our community a better place to live, members of Oustomah Lodge #16 delivered a check to Lynn Woerner, executive director of Kare Crisis Nursery in Grass Valley. Our gift supports the incredible work the Nursery does for families and children in distress in Nevada County. Pictured above are Odd Fellows Lisa Lillie, Sabastian St. John, Lynn Woerner of Kare, and Odd Fellows Kris Crabtree and Sasha St. John.

As part of a Lodge service initiative started last year by Past Noble Grand Kate Winningham, a group of Oustomah members have registered as American Red Cross volunteers. We are proud that two of our sisters spent time on the front lines in the Camp Fire last year. When our local ARC chapter was offered an opportunity to exhibit the ARC educational booth at our local Nevada County Fair, three Oustomah members (shown) Kris Crabtree, Richard Gorman, and Sasha St. John signed up to help. The crew interacted with over 200 members of the public, with a focus on Preparedness, in one six-hour shift.
