Casey Ayer honored as Nevada County’s ‘Outstanding Prosecutor of the Year’
Casey Ayer was awarded the Outstanding Prosecutor of the Year Award for 2019. This was given in special recognition of her outstanding service to the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office and the citizens of Nevada County. Ayer is a Bear River High School graduate with strong ties to the community. In 2018 she was on the misdemeanor team and was consistently one of the best trial attorneys on that unit; regularly going out to jury trial and getting good results. When she was moved to felonies she didn’t miss a beat, said Assistant District Attorney Chris Walsh. Earlier this year Casey prosecuted the case of the People v. Michael Diaz, a 1st degree burglary and robbery case in which the defendant was convicted at jury trial and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
“The thing about Casey is that she is a fighter; she isn’t afraid to stick up for victims,” said Walsh.
