Committee meets tonight to discuss future use of NCE

A committee to determine the best use of the vacant Nevada City Elementary campus is meeting tonight.

The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. today at Seven Hills Middle School, Room A-1, at 700 Hoover Lane in Nevada City.

Forest Charter School had bid to use the school as a campus, but the board turned down that lease agreement. The state Administrative Office of the Courts also expressed interest in using the property as a site for a rebuilt courthouse.

Establishing a 7/11 committee – comprised of between seven and 11 members – is the California Department of Education’s protocol for determining how to use public school property.
