Club news: Soroptimist International of Grass Valley

Soroptimist International of Grass Valley will welcome Fred Buhler, chairman of Friends of Nevada County Military, as a speaker at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Holbrooke Hotel in Grass Valley. His presentation will illustrate how our community is assisting our sons and daughters presently serving abroad.

In 1998, Fred and his wife Margie moved to Nevada City after retiring from the Bank of America International Banking Department. Buhler had assignments in 13 countries during this period. In 2003, the U.S. Treasury Department invited him to join the Iraq Financial Task Force to work on reconstruction of the Iraqi banking system.

Guests and spouses of Soroptimist are welcome, along with the general public. For more information or reservations, call Laurie Michele at 265-8252; for reservations, call by Monday.
