The League of Women Voters of Western Nevada County will hold its monthly program meeting Feb. 11, in the Community Room at Peace Lutheran Church, 828 W. Main St. in Grass Valley. Refreshments are served at 9:30 a.m. and the program begins promptly at 10 a.m.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Terry McAteer, Nevada County Superintendent of Schools, who will discuss the “No Child Left Behind” law enacted by Congress in 2002. He will give an in-depth look at the law and how it is being implemented in Nevada County. Questions and discussion will follow.

McAteer is currently serving his third elected term as county superintendent, overseeing special education, the county community schools, and all district fiscal services.

Future League program meetings will feature “Universal Health Care” at the March program meeting, and “The Patriot Act Revisited” at the April meeting.

The League of Women Voters works to promote political responsibility through informed and active citizen participation in national, state and local government.
