Club news: Grass Valley Host Lions Club

Charles Fowler was honored at a surprise celebration at the Grass Valley Host Lions Club on Jan. 12 for achieving 50 years of membership and 50 consecutive years of 100 percent attendance.

During the ceremonies, Lion Charles was presented with a signed letter of congratulations from Lions International President Ashok Mehta of Mumbai, India, presented by Past District Governor K.E. “Dick” Dickey of the Higgins Diggins Lions Club. He also received a proclamation from the City of Grass Valley, presented by City Councilwoman Lisa Swarthout, for his many services to the club and the community. And finally, Lion Charles was informed that, within the month, he will receive a Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest honor that is bestowed on a person by Lions Clubs International. The gala event was attended by Charles’ wife, Cece; his sister-in-law, Midge Scotten; daughter and son-in-law and many members and their spouses.
