Club news: Empire Toastmasters

Can you imagine speaking in Paris? Jacob Griscom can. He just took the first step by winning Empire Toastmaster’s annual International Speech Contest with his warm and wise talk about there “being no mistakes” on our path. Next, the 25-year-old ayurvedic specialist will compete against winners from other Area 64 Clubs. According to Griscom, the winners from succeeding Toastmaster levels will compete at the final competition in Paris this summer.

In addition to Griscom, club guru Jill Fox inspired members with her excellent speech titled “Act As If…” “Act as if you have already succeeded, then it will be more likely that you will succeed at whatever you choose,” Fox said.

Toastmaster Robin Lloyd added some fun with the game “Apples to Apples” that gave each member an opportunity for impromptu silliness. Come join the fun Friday at 1 p.m. at the Community Room of the Madelyn Helling Library. For more information call Robin Lloyd at 272-7111.
