Club brief: Mother Lode Toastmasters

The Annual Evaluation Contest took place this rainy evening. Every contestant evaluated one speaker, Linda Couper, and her speech entitled “How Unit Studies Help Us Succeed with Home Schooling.” Linda taught that in utilizing Unit Studies, the Parent/Teacher selects a main topic of either social studies or science. This is the topic of study (Math, English, Art, Music) for four weeks for the entire family.

Annabelle Robbins was voted as the Evaluator who best met her objectives and Richard Bannister was voted as second. Annabelle will go on to the area contest coming up soon. It will be held at 7 p.m. on March 24. It will take place at the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office in Nevada City. There will be refreshments and everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Mother Lode Toastmasters meet at 6:45 p.m. on Mondays at 640 E. Main St. in Grass Valley (behind Valet Cleaners). For more information call Jessica at 263-2768.
