Claire Wiegand

A celebration of life for Claire Margaret Wiegand of Indianapolis, Ind. will be conducted Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Harry W. Moore Mortuary, 8151 Allisonville Road in Indianapolis, Ind.

Mrs. Wiegand died Friday, Jan. 28. She was 79.

She was born Nov. 20, 1926, the eldest of three daughters. She attended the Chicago Art Institute and enjoyed antiques, architecture, renovation, design and the arts. She had eight children, including Elizabeth MacKenzie of Grass Valley. She was a substitute teacher and an advocate for the disabled. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.



She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Cobbs; children Susan Metzger of Fort Bragg, Elizabeth MacKenzie and son in law, Mark Applegate of Grass Valley, Kimberly Whiteman, Julia Metzger, Arden Wiegand, Kurt Wiegand, Erich Wiegand of Indiana, and Aaron Wiegand of Florida; and six grandchildren, including Sean and Lauren MacKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jack Wiegand in 1997.
