Citizens Bank has Halloween spirit

Employees of Citizens Bank on Neal Street went all out with their costume and decorations for the Safe Trick or Treat event for small children in downtown Grass Valley, winning recognition for best overall Halloween presentation Friday.

The event brought children downtown from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to receive candy from merchants, watch a puppet show and receive free books.

Other winners of the Great Goblin Halloween window display and costume contest in downtown Grass Valley were:

• Best Halloween window: Foothill Flowers

• Most enthusiastic: Wells Fargo Insurance

• Best costumed business: Aimee Taylor Handcrafted

• Best costume theme: Tess’ Kitchen Store

• Most child-pleasing: Grass Valley City Hall

Judges this year were Executive Director Mary Ann Mueller of the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce and volunteer Judy Bagley.

The Grass Valley Library/Royce Branch offered a puppet show, “Frankenswine.”

Sponsors of the event, organized by the Grass Valley Downtown Association, are The Union, First 5 of Nevada County, Nevada County Drug Free Coalition and KNCO Radio. Photos are on the association’s Facebook page, GV Downtown.
