Christine Sonke

Christine V. Sonke, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 26, at Eskaton Lodge Cameron Park.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no memorial service.

Mrs. Sonke was born June 30, 1910, in Angels Camp, Calaveras County, to Morris and Giovanna Val.



She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Angels Camp and graduated from Bret Harte Union High School. She worked as a bookkeeper in San Francisco. She married Adrian “Ed” Sonke in 1941. The family moved to Nevada City in 1950. She worked for Bank of America and Alpha Industrial.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Judith Sonke of Pollock Pines; son, Keith E. Sonke of North San Juan; grandson, Craig; granddaughter, Christine; and seven great-grandchildren.




She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Adrian “Ed” Sonke, in 1992; and grandson, Robert Lee Sonke, Jr.
