Chris Enss launches new book

Local author and historian Chris Enss will launch her new book, “Playing for Time: The Death Row All Stars,” Oct. 28 at The Book Seller.

The book, which is being made into a movie, is the true story of Joseph Seng and other Wyoming State Penitentiary death-row inmates in 1911 who played baseball as a game of life or death. Depending upon if they won or lost, the prisoners might receive stays of execution.

Enss is the co-author of a series of books on Western history, including “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon,” “Love Untamed” and “With Great Hope.”

She also co-wrote “The Cowboy and the Senorita” with Howard Kazanjian.

Enss will speak from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 28. Refreshments will be served.

The Book Seller is at 107 Mill Street in Grass Valley.
