CHP IDs suspects from Lake Tahoe car chase

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol has identified three people who were arrested Friday afternoon following a car chase up Lake Tahoe’s west shore.

Mario Amial, 21, Joshua Hawthorne, 27, and Kelsey Sierakowski, 19, were taken into custody following a law enforcement pursuit of a white Chevrolet Suburban that started in South Lake Tahoe and ended near Dollar Point, said CHP Officer Tony Prisco.

Highway patrol officers allegedly found 60 small plastic bags of methamphetamine, totaling 21 grams, in the vehicle following the pursuit. A glass pipe and digital scale were also found in the vehicle, Prisco said. The Suburban spent the last miles of the pursuit riding on its rims after officers deployed spike strips, flattening tires on the vehicle.



Amial, the driver of the Suburban, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer, evading police, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, being under the influence of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hawthorne, a passenger, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of methamphetamine.




Sierakowski, another passenger, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Amial and Hawthorne are residents of South Lake Tahoe. Sierakowski is a resident of Wellington, Nev.
