Children’s reading program at library

Although official signups for the Nevada County Library summer reading program were held mid June, participants may still sign up at any branch, if there is room in the program.

Today “Magic by Alex” is planned for 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Grass Valley, and for two shows in Nevada City, at 1-2 p.m. and at 2:30-3:30 p.m.

On July 3, “Tommy’s Space Bug Adventure Puppet Show” will be presented at 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Grass Valley, and for two shows in Nevada City, at 1-2 p.m. and at 2:30-3:30 p.m. A behind-the-scenes puppetry demonstration is included.



Bug Blasts, that feature Master Gardener Dorothy Bolker with bug facts and bug fun, are on July 8 at 1-2 p.m. at the Grass Valley Library, and on July 9 at 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Bear River Library Station.

Bee Blast programs, presented by Beekeeper Rob Slay with real bees, are on July 12 at 11 a.m. to noon at the Madelyn Helling Library, and at 1-2 p.m. at the Penn Valley Station.




The Corny Crow Show with Ventriloquist Steve Chaney comes to the libraries on July 16, at 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Grass Valley, and for two shows in Nevada City, at 1-2 p.m. and at 2:30-3:30 p.m.

The summer reading wraps up with the music of world-renowned folksinger and songwriter Bonnie Lockhart at our celebration parties.

She will perform spirited, interactive programs on July 22 at the Grass Valley-Royce Branch Library at 11 a.m. and at the Madelyn Helling Library at 2 p.m.; treats and free books for all.
