Chickens for a brighter future

My name is Brighton Drake. I am a first-grader at Grass Valley Charter School. In our class we have been learning about “Mother Earth,” what is in our landfills and how they are overflowing. I think that we can all help by getting chickens.

• Chickens can help us decrease the amount of things that go to the landfill by about 20 percent because they can eat your food scraps and yard waste.

• Chickens can make awesome fertilizer for your yard and garden. That way you don’t have to spend money on buying fertilizer from the store.

• Chickens can eat the bugs out of your garden so you don’t have to use all those pesticides.

• And the best part, they can make you fresh nutritious eggs.

I hope that you can get chickens soon so we can all do our part to make this world a better place.
