Chester Pepple

Services for Chester Eugene Pepple of Grass Valley will be conducted at a later date.

Mr. Pepple died Sunday, Feb. 26, at home. He was 79.

He was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Illinois, to Odin and Sarah Pepple. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class, also as a torpedo man on the U.S.S. Stickll. He married Roberta LaVern Mills on Sept. 18, 1948, in Bridgeport, Ill. After serving in the Navy, he worked on pipeline construction throughout the United States for many years, at which time he established his own business as owner/operator of heavy equipment until his retirement. He had been a resident of Nevada County for 35 years, where he spent many hours working on revitalizing Western Gateway Park. He enjoyed golfing, softball, fishing and R.V. traveling. He was an avid Kings fan.



He is survived by his wife, Roberta “Billie” Pepple of Grass Valley; son, Jack Joe Pepple of Grass Valley; grandson, Justin Joseph Pepple of Grass Valley; and sister, Veva Vowells of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Penny Jane Pepple.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
