Check toys for lead at Rood Center Friday

A lead test screening of people, household Items, jewelry and children’s toys is being held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the lobby of the Rood Center at 950 Maidu Ave. in Nevada City.

A $10 donation is suggested for the fingerstick blood lead testing for children, adults and pregnant women. X-ray lead screening for items will be free and a toxic waste bin will be used to dispose of them.

Call 265-7016 for a lead test appointment, but walk-ins are welcome. If you need more information, call the Public Health Department at 265-1450.
