Charles Smith Jr.

Charles H. Smith Jr., 83, of Grass Valley died Tuesday, June 29, in Grass Valley.

No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Smith was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Gooding, Idaho, to Charles and Elodia Smith. He graduated from Gooding High School in 1940, and attended two years at San Jose College. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio and motion picture projector operator. He worked as a motion picture projector operator at the Schubert Theater in Gooding, Idaho. He also was a T.V. video operator and microwave technician for AT&T in California. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed photography, electronics, space travel and the environment.



He is survived by his brothers, Lenier Smith of Ketchum, Idaho, and Albert Smith of Concord; daughters, Terri Borzoni of San Diego, Katy Ethridge of Canton, Ohio, Natalie Jermym of Ramona, and Marsha Smith of San Jose; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Elodia Smith; and brothers Edwin and William Smith.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
