Charlene Lawson

Charlene Lawson died Feb. 2 at her home in Grass Valley. She was 48.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday. For more information, please call 477-0847.

Ms. Lawson was born Feb. 24, 1959, in Portsmouth, N.H., to Elizabeth Chase and Charles Herbert Lawson. She was a bright light on Earth who touched many with her open, joyful heart and sweet, generous nature. She was trained as a musician, playing piano, guitar and French horn, and also worked in theater. She started her medical career as an EMT and later became a registered nurse and case manager.



She will be remembered as being compassionate and caring toward everyone, for her love of animals and for being quick to say yes when asked for help in any way.

She loved laughing and giving gifts and inspired family and friends with her courage and good cheer in overcoming many health challenges in recent years. Her dedication to her ministry, Heaven on Earth Ministries, was the most important focus in her life. She was dedicated to serving God and spreading love and joy to make the world a more beautiful place.




Ms. Lawson is survived by her brothers Russ Lawson of Grass Valley and Peter Lawson of Standish, Maine.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Grass Valley.

Fire quickly contained near Blue Canyon

Firefighters responded Friday morning to a reported vegetation fire near Blue Canyon in Placer County, with just over an acre burned before the blaze was contained.
