Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Friday extravaganza

You may have already heard that the dance group Razzmatazz has been invited to perform at Disneyland this month. Now they need money to get there. In the spirit of a party fundraiser, Salsa Sierra is having a Cinco de Mayo extravaganza on Friday at the Veterans Hall, 255 S. Auburn St, Grass Valley, with live music by Orquestra Afinque.

The evening includes a dinner, a dance and a performance. Because the deadline for dinner reservations has passed, we’ll only give information for the dance – a lesson for which begins at 8 p.m. The actual dance starts at 9 p.m., and the Razzmatazz Dance Troupe will dazzle the audience during the band’s break.

Tickets for the dance/performance are $20 and may be purchased at Yabobo in Nevada City and at The Book Seller and BriarPatch in Grass Valley. Contact salsasierra.com by e-mail salsasierra@sbcglob al.net or call 477-0767.

What better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than with a margarita in-hand? Here is a “cooler” recipe from Seagram’s.

Seagram’s Ultra Strawberry Margarita

8 oz. Seagram’s Strawberry Margarita

1 oz. strawberry schnapps

Garnish with a lime

Serve over ice

Optional: Add fresh strawberries and blend for a frozen treat.
