Catherine Groulx

Memorial services for Catherine Viola Groulx of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Abundant Life Community Church, 10795 Alta St. in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Groulx died Saturday, Feb. 16, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She was 80.



She was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Stockton to Fredrick E. McConnell and Gertrude G. (Hicks) McConnell. She graduated from Hayward High School and Hayward School of Nursing. She married Alan Groulx on April 26, 1940, in Reno.




She was a licensed vocational nurse at Auburn Faith Hospital. She enjoyed art, bingo and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alan Groulx of Grass Valley; son, Alan Richard Groulx of Grass Valley; sisters Jean Collins of Drain, Ore., and Mary Jackson of Meridian, Idaho; brother, Fred McConnell of Baypoint; grandchildren David Groulx, Eric Groulx and Debbie Wells, all of Grass Valley, Duane Gay of Oregon, and Dale Huesing and Christine Mason, both of Auburn; and nine great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels.
