Carmen Mafort Jr.

Visitation for family and friends of Carmen A. Mafort Jr. will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nevada City. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m.

Mr. Mafort died Thursday, Dec. 19, in Nevada City. He was 74.



He was born on June 13, 1928, in San Jose to Carmen A. Mafort Sr. and Edith D’Alliso. He married Elaine on Dec. 29, 1979, in Vacaville. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and from civil service as a police lieutenant. He was a member of the Federal Police Officers Association and the Seniors in Retirement. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. He was a volunteer for the Camp Fire Boys and Girls Camp in Nevada City.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine M. Mafort of Nevada City; children Theresa Huber of Illinois, John Mafort of Napa, Michael Mafort of Missouri, Kathleen Flynn of Illinois, Susan Petersen of Reno and Stephen E. Mafort of Nevada City; and 11 grandchildren.




Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Aid Thrift Store, 317 S. Auburn St., Grass Valley 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
