Carl Harris

Carl Sheldon Harris died Sept. 15, in Las Vegas, Nev., from throat cancer. He was 75.

A memorial service is planned in San Diego, where his mother and sister reside. He will be interned in New Elm Ridge cemetery in Grass Valley.

He was born in Grass Valley on March 17, 1935, to John “Jack” and Ellen Harris.



Mr. Harris graduated from Grass Valley High School in 1953 and the University of California, Berkeley, in 1957.

He will be remembered as an outstanding athlete, especially for his softball pitching and his golf.




Mr. Harris is survived by his children, Robert, Debbie, Judy and Scott; six grandchildren; mother, Ellen; sister, Barbara Lutz; and companion, Andrea Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his father, John; and brother, Terry.
