Caravan at BellaVista Friday

A six-person travelling band of men and women that formed in 2003, Caravan is playing Friday, from 7:30 to 11 p.m., at the BellaVista, 101 Broad St. in Nevada City.

Spreading peace through music, band members play original material written and inspired by Celtic, bluegrass, improvisational rock and funk, which is brought to life with an acoustic blues, gypsy jam band sound – music that is easy to dance to.

Members include Tom Menig, who is also lead guitar player for the Dead Beats; bass player Joe Shultz; harmonica player Shawn Williams; and drummer Chris Fox, who played in Big Fish Little Pond and jammed at open mikes with Jimmy Townsend on a regular basis at Cooper’s Saloon. Sisters Heather and Melanie Wilbourn provide the vocals.

The band’s CD, “Sundial Sessions,” with its 11 original songs, was recorded at Sundial Studios in Nevada City.

There is no cover charge. Call 265-3445 for more information.
