Candidate makes correction to recent mailer

I would like to set the record straight on a campaign mailer piece that I recently mailed to our Nevada County District 2 voters saying I was endorsed by several organizations, one of which was the Higgins Fire District.

As most people know, fire districts don’t endorse political candidates; their firefighter associations handle endorsements. My endorsement came from the Higgins Firefighters Association through its President Chris Harrison. I have also been endorsed by the Nevada County Chapter of CDF Firefighters Association and the Nevada County Consolidated Firefighters Association. Other endorsements include the Nevada County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, the Nevada City Police Officers Association and Sue Horne, our current Nevada County District 2 Supervisor.

I take full responsibility for the error in saying my endorsement came from a district rather than its employee’s association. It was an oversight and in no way diminishes the importance of such a vote of confidence in my candidacy from our firefighters. Both they and our local law enforcement officers know that as Nevada County Supervisor, I will always make public safety priority one and continue to earn their support every day.

Thank you and The Union newspaper for allowing me to make this correction even though it was not a newspaper error.
