Camillo Cassina

Private services for Camillo “Cass” Cassina of Grass Valley will be conducted at a later date.

Mr. Cassina died Monday, March 1, at home. He was 89.

He was born Nov. 28, 1914, in San Francisco to Guido Luigi and Louise (Prete) Cassina. He graduated from Galleleo High School in San Francisco. He married Mildred Putnam Dec. 28, 1944, in Reno, Nev. He retired as a store manager after 30 years of working for Lucky Stores in San Francisco Bay and Auburn. He was a life member of Sons In Retirement (SIRS), Branch 124, of Alta Sierra. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and playing cards.



He is survived by his wife, Mildred Cassina of Grass Valley; daughter, Carol Fehrn of Guerneville; daughters and sons-in-law Claudia and Claude Bobba of Livermore and Alicia and Tim Bertoli of Nevada City; brother and sister-in-law, David and Lorraine Cassina of Sonora; grandchildren Debbie Carson, Kim and Bill Scarpete, Bill and Joann Neilsen, Tina Simmons, Shawn and Roseanne Neilsen, and Nick and Alex Bertoli; five great-grandchildren; niece and nephew-in-law, Vivian and David Cogdell of San Jose; and great-nephew, Brian Cogdell of San Jose. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.
