Calling for Old Glories

When American flags are old and worn out, torn or dirty, proper procedure is for the flags to be burned.

Boy Scouts of Grass Valley’s Troop 855 is collecting old or damaged flags to be properly retired at a ceremony during the coming Roamin’ Angels car show on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. This respectful ceremony is at dusk and open to the public.

Scouts have set up several drop-off locations in western Nevada County:

• Bank of America, 804 Sutton Way, Grass Valley (Glenbrook Basin)

• Bank of America, 134 S. Church St., Grass Valley (downtown)

• El Dorado Savings Bank, 10612 Combie Road (south county)

• Citizens Bank, 709 Sutton Way, Grass Valley (Glenbrook Basin)

• Citizens Bank, 305 Neal St., Grass Valley (downtown)

• The Union Newspaper, 464 Sutton Way, Grass Valley (Glenbrook Basin)
