C. James Kain

Jim Kain passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Grass Valley on May 17 at the age of 90.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Jim’s life, which will be held on June 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Canice Hall, 236 Reward Street in Nevada City.

After his retirement as an administrator for the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, where he worked for 25 years, Jim stayed active in the community. He served on the fire safety council, health planning council and homeowners associations.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children Doug, Susan, Scott, Kathy and John; their spouses Linda, Gordon and Ron; grandchildren Rena, Jesse, Dena and Benjamin; and great-granddaughter, Madisin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 2399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
