Buy something beautiful and benefit Hospice of the Foothills

Fine art, fine crafts and fine floral arrangements are all for appreciating – and buying – at “Arts and Flowers,” the show that raises funds to support the work of Hospice of the Foothills in its care and assistance of terminally ill patients in this area. It takes place at Miners Foundry Cultural Center, 325 Spring St. in Nevada City Friday, April 20 (4-8 p.m.) and Saturday, April 21 (noon to 6 p.m.).

More than 35 artists and florists display everything from oil and watercolors, to jewelry and fabric art, all made even more beautiful by the flowers, here there and everywhere. Nosh on appetizers made by volunteers of the Friends of Hospice and drink wine and coffee while viewing the goodies and listening to some fine music, including the Ken Hardin jazz trio, guitar, organ, accordion and harp.

Artists not only donate 30 percent of their net sales at the event to Hospice of the Foothills, but also a piece of their art for the raffle. Buy raffle tickets both days; you do not have to be present to win the drawing.

This is the seventh year this event has occurred. For many it signifies the coming of spring.

Tickets for admission to both days are $5 and may be purchased at the door. Call Brenda Heeke at 432-1992 or Karen Domagala at 432-8910 for more information.
