Previous co-owner of The Willo in Nevada City died Saturday

The previous co-owner of The Willo Steakhouse in Nevada City for 26 years, Dorothy Jeannie Hiebert, died Saturday. She was 82.

Hiebert was born in Utah. She became an active resident of Nevada County, participating as a member of the Grass Valley Quilt Guild, Soroptimist International of Nevada City, Ladies Elk Club and more.

Hiebert and her husband, Ken, sold the Willo about 15 years ago, according to her daughter, Lisa Heibert.

Lisa Heibert said her mother was happy working at the Willo as she met many friends there. When she retired from co-owning the restaurant, Dorothy Hiebert stayed active with friends and various activities.

“She was very kind,” said Lisa Hiebert. “She loved to crochet and to quilt,” often gifting her quilts to cancer patients.

A memorial potluck will be held for Hiebert from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 19 at the Willo in Nevada City.
