Union Hill School sends a big “thank you” to supporters who helped raise more than $1,300 in a recent e-waste drive at Old Barn Self Storage in Grass Valley.

The earnings likely will be spent on the annual student drama production set for later this year, Office Clerk Jeanette Mosby said.

It is the most money ever raised by a nonprofit group at Old Barn during an e-waste drive, onsite Manager Lloyd Young said.

That’s due in large part to “an anonymous community member who went around the neighborhood with his truck and collected e-waste, so we’d like to thank him,” Mosby added. “We don’t even know who he is.”

Old Barn dedicates two storage units to collecting electronic junk for a different school or nonprofit each month.

“They’re really great with the community, and we really appreciate that,” said Principal Joe Limov.

Union Hill is among 29 nonprofit and educational groups Old Barn has partnered with for the monthly e-waste collection or for the Happy Art Contest, said managing partner Stephen R. DeSena, of Nevada City.
