Small businesses in Nevada County are eligible to apply for U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans to offset losses caused by fire and drought from May through September last year.

Shaffer’s sends one to symposium

Steve Pickard of Shaffer’s Originals, a Grass Valley photo studio, was invited to the 2002 Presidential Circle Symposium, held Jan. 12-15 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The symposium focused on digital technology and business-building programs for photo studios. It was sponsored by Burrell Professional Labs, a network of professional photofinishers based in Crown Point, Ind.

KVMR taps GV firm to produce festival

Empire Events, a Grass Valley meeting and event planner, was chosen by KVMR to produce the Sept. 13-14 Celtic Festival and Marketplace.

Empire Events was founded in March 2001 by Amy Hanshaw, the company’s owner. The company just completed a contract with Zinfandel Advocates and Producers to handle trade registration for a three-day festival.

NC insurance agent attends D.C. forum

Nevada City insurance agent Anthony Halby attended the Capitol Conference lobbying conference this month in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the National Association of Health Underwriters.

Halby was one of 570 association members who met with legislators about health insurance issues.
