Bush and God’s will

I’m worried about George W. Bush. Partying and drinking his way through Yale, he then joined the Texas Air Guard, treating his duty very casually. Then got into the Harvard MBA program, although marginally qualified. All was so easy!

Then, at 40, married for 10 years and a father for five, and drunk and never gainfully employed, he sobered up. God’s will, he said.

Now-sober George went into the oil business. Three times he went dry hole, but each time friends of daddy bailed him out, at a loss to the friends and a profit to George. Then, as “president” of newly formed Texas Rangers, his connections were used to get the Texas city to grant the land and build the stadium at no cost to the club. For this he got $15 million.

It was now obvious to George that his God was guiding him to the governership of Texas and then to the presidency of the nation. He truly believed this was God’s will, as was his invasion of Iraq.

So, if George were not reelected, his faith in his special God might end, leaving the poor guy rudderless in a squalling sea. Want that on your conscience?
